Wednesday, July 26, 2017, Woodbury, MN (Minneapolis/St. Paul)
Day 76

A trip to the Minneapolis downtown farmers market was a big disappointment and we did not even get out of the car. Although billed as open 7 days a week, apparently most vendors do not do 7 days. We saw only 2 who seemed to be selling flowers. We headed on to the Weisman Art Museum on the University of Minnesota campus. The building itself is a piece of art. Designed by Frank Gehry in angular stainless steel. Inside was some neat stuff including the “world’s most beautiful” drag racer and a glass fish also designed by Gehry. After the museum, we walked across the Mississippi River and back on the bridge which connects the University’s East bank and West bank. Lunch at the Peninsula Restaurant where we had the mango chicken and pumpkin chicken red curry. We also ate there 10 years ago and had the mango chicken then. Very good food. We stopped at the French Meadow Bakery and bought a chocolate croissant for after dinner. We drove to Dinkytown, an area near the University’s East bank, and had bubble teas from Kung Fu Tea. We then drove around Nicollet Island and down the West River Parkway to the Minnehaha Park. We viewed the Minnehaha Falls and hiked along the river.
