Monday, August 14, 2017, International Falls, MN
Day 95

From Kenora, ON, we took Highway 71 south which is a scenic road along the huge Lake of the Woods. We crossed the border and forfeited our tomatoes and limes. We read online that Canadian fruits and vegetables were ok to bring in but the border agent said Canada was re-labeling Dutch tomatoes as Canadian and thus not allowed due to a moth problem with European tomatoes. We checked into Arnold’s RV Park which is very convenient in the City of International Falls. We then headed to the Voyageurs National Park, Rainy Lake entrance. We made our reservation for the Voyageur Boat Tour the next day as Voyageurs NP is mostly water.  We discovered that most of the trails are located at the park’s other 2 entrances which are more than an hour drive away and not on our agenda. We did do the one trail here at the Rainy Lake Visitors Center which was through woods of about 1.7 miles and we were bombarded by buzzing insects although not mosquitoes. Back to International Falls and we drove the “downtown” and stopped in Smokey Bear Park for a photo op but somehow we lost the photo. Grocery shopping at Super One. Bison burgers on the grill made for a restful evening.
