Sunday, August 20, 2017, Munising, MI
Day 101

We departed Sault St. Marie, ON, and drove onto the International Bridge. Just about the halfway point of the bridge the traffic was backed up due to the border crossing. It took us an hour to get through the border control. We had a very nice border agent that asked where we were going. She then proceeded to tell us about all the places we should see and things we should do in Michigan. She must have talked for at least 10 minutes but at least we got some pointers. We visited the Soo Lake Locks Park in Sault St. Marie, MI. A very nice 3 story viewing platform allowed us to watch the locks in action. The locks are necessary since Lake Superior is 21 feet higher than Lake Huron. This caused rapids along the St. Mary’s River which connects the lakes and prevented boat traffic from being able to navigate the river. We then drove west about 2 hours to Munising, MI, where we checked into the KOA formerly Wandering Wheel RV Campground. We drove around town to learn our way around, a total of 2 streets basically.
