Saturday, July 29, 2017, Fargo, ND
Day 79

After the quietest night ever in a Walmart (perhaps due to Park Rapids only 3709 population), we drove a little less than 2 hours to Fargo, ND, just across the border of Moorhead, MN. We stopped at the Fargo Air Museum where we would stay the night as it is a host member of Harvest Hosts. I toured the museum without Rosemary who after the EAA in Oshkosh felt she had seen enough old airplanes. I enjoyed the museum which was a bit on the small side especially when compared to Oshkosh. All these planes really gives me the urge to get my pilot’s license current again, an idea not in favor with Rosemary. We visited the Plains Art Museum which had a free day. The permanent collection would take us no more than 10 minutes but fortunately, there was a special exhibit of the art of David Bradley which we found very interesting. Bradley often would put famous people in his paintings. That’s Bill and Hillary sitting at the table with Monica partially obscured by the table (in fact the only part of her visible is her arm from under the table across Bill’s mid-section). We drove around town, the largest in North Dakota, and neither of us can understand why anyone would live here. I visited the Roger Maris Museum which is contained within an indoor mall. Good thing because Rosemary had no interest in the museum but gave the go ahead when we discovered it’s in a mall. Rosemary walked the mall while I visited with Roger. Since this is the “big city” in North Dakota and we were just beginning our time in the state, we decided to eat out. Dinner at Santa Lucia was very good, lasagna with sausage meat sauce for me. Rosemary had chicken parm.
