Day 20, Tuesday, August, 14, 2018. New Richmond, QC to Perce, QC
Departed New Richmond and stopped in Chandler, QC, for a hike that included the longest aluminum footbridge in the world.  Not worth the stop except for the large gravel parking lot which we had to ourselves and it being lunchtime, we ate lunch.  Continued onward to Perce where we checked into Camping Cote Surprise, full hookup, 30 amp, after a total of 100 miles today. The campground is right on the shore/cliff of the Gulf of St. Lawrence with a great view of Parc National de l’Ile Bonaventure et-du-Rocher Perce.  The Parc is an island 3 miles off shore and includes Perce Rock which is our outing for tomorrow.  We headed about 10 km out of Perce to the Emeraudes River.  After the longest 500 meter hike in history with lots of up and down and at least 6 or more signs stating 100 meters to go, we finally reached the river and a nice waterfall.  Unfortunately, I did not bring my swim suit on the hike.  Many others were swimming in the emerald green water which I found cool to the touch but not freezing.  Back to Perce where we found a fish shop (La Boite A Fruits De Mer) and bought a pound of fresh, not frozen, lobster meat for dinner ($30 Canadian, about $23 US), and then a patisserie (Boulangerie Le Fournand) where we bought a chocolate croissant for dessert, and back to the coach for our feast. The fresh lobster was markedly better than the frozen we had in Bathurst.  The best, easiest and least expensive way to have a lobster dinner at under $12 US each. What a deal!
