Day 13.  August 7, 2018.  NYC to Millis, MA
We departed Jersey City and headed north to the Tapanzee Bridge to try to avoid driving the coach through NYC.  The first hour we covered 18 miles!  We arrived at Ro’s sister Kathy’s place about 4 pm and for the first time parked in front of their house.  Plenty level although we had to keep the generator running for the a/c as the weather was still hot.  Dinner at Ashland Ale House was a generous portion of fish tacos and sweet potato fries washed down with a White Lion Kolsch.  A quick one night visit meant we were up late gabbing.

Day 9-12.  Friday to Tuesday, August 3-6, 2018.  Jersey City, NJ (NYC)
A 2.5 hour drive to Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City began our visit with the grandkids.    For the first time, we drove the car to Daniel’s in West Village via the Holland Tunnel.  We did this each day and the trip time varied mostly between 25 and 35 minutes with one exception Friday night when it took forever to enter the tunnel resulting in about a 55 minute trip.  However, the car with a/c in the 90+ degree weather sure beat the walk, train, subway and walk we have done in past visits. Friday’s dinner at Frank Restaurant, mostly Italian fare, where I had the special, black gnocchi with squid which was excellent, as was Rosemary’s salmon. Ro’s sister Beth joined us for dinner and also had the gnocchi. Dessert was molten chocolate cake and tiramisu with lots of forks in celebration of or granddaughter’s second birthday. A Sunday visit to the National Geographic Undersea Encounter was a big hit with the grandkids and ended with a 3-D video whereby we were all swallowed by a whale.  Luckily, as did Jonah, we managed to survive.  Monday’s lunch at Katz’s Deli, made more famous by Meg Ryan’s faux orgasm in “When Harry Met Sally” and Estelle Reiner’s memorable line “I’ll have what she’s having,” featured the best pastrami I have ever had.  Two sandwiches fed the 4 of us (with Daniel and Beth) with a side of coleslaw and an order of blintzes. An iced hot chocolate at L.A. Burdick was just as great as the hot chocolate I had there last October when the weather was cold.  Rosemary got her dozen NY bagels from Murray’s Bagels - 12 sesame for her and 1 pumpernickel for me. Seeing the grandkids only twice a year makes us very aware of how fast they grow and change.  At 7 and almost 5, I think the days when I can wrestle with the boys and not get myself hurt may not be for very many more visits.  Maybe I should take up wrestling with our granddaughter instead.  All in all a great visit.
