Day 17, August, 11, 2018. Miramichi, NB to Bathurst, NB.
A visit to Beaubears Island National Historic Site in Miramichi began with a 5 minute boat ride.  The island was once home to impoverished Acadians expelled from Canada but has been uninhabited for over 100 years. The boat dropped us off and told us to call when we were ready to be picked up.  We were 2 of only about 6 on the island at that time.  Several hiking trails and we hiked the entire island in about 2 hours.  Forested trails permeated with the evergreen aroma made for a relaxing walk. Fortunately, we had a cell phone signal and the boat came to pick us up.  We then drove an hour to the Bathurst, NB, Walmart.  A short walk around downtown was unexciting so we drove to the Youghall Beach and walked the boardwalk.  On the way back to the coach, we stopped at McLeans Fish Shop and bought a pound of lobster meat (already shelled and cooked) and for $30 we both had lobster dinner in the coach, delicious! Alas, could not find more Tidal Bay wine in Bathurst.
