Day 20, May 17, 2018.  Thursday.
A morning walk through Old Town to Old Town Square where there is a spectacular display of various architectural styles, each one beautiful.  Unfortunately, the astronomical clock was covered completely by scaffolding and a life size picture was displayed on the screening covering the scaffolding.  We continued on to New Town and Wenceslas Square, site of many historical events including the 1989 Velvet Revolution with hundreds of thousands of people demonstrating against Soviet occupation.  Lunch at Gao Garden, a Viet and Thai restaurant.  The food was fair but the service was unbelievably terrible.  Well at least Rosemary got her Asian food fix. Tram 22 took us all the way up the hill to Prague Castle where we spent the afternoon viewing the Royal Palace, St. Vitus Cathedral which contained beautiful stained glass by Alfons Mucha, the Basilica of St. George and Golden Lane.  After a little rest at the hotel, we walked 15 minutes uphill to Restaurant Rilke where I had goulash with various dumplings well paired with a Svijanska Knezna, a dark beer.  Rosemary had chicken.  After dinner, a stroll to the Charles Bridge with a gelato stop along the way.  A full and fun day but a bit exhausting.  Walking time 5:29, 20,445 steps.
