Day 63

A trip to Aspen with Sue. Delightful little town with a traffic and parking problem. The airport just before the town was lined with more private jets than I had ever seen in one spot.  Must have been at least 3 dozen. We walked around downtown and had lunch at Annette’s Mountain Bakery at a table outside in the shade on the mall at Hyman Street. Much fun watching the people go by. Rosemary, ever the bargain hunter, bought a tee shirt for $8.90 among the shops where such shirts were typically $30 and up. After gelato it was back to Carbondale to visit Kirk’s business, wholesale cannabis cultivation. Although legal under Colorado law, since still not legal under Federal law no photos to post. Some of the plants are taller than I and some are just starting at about 2 inches.  It is basically farming plants and is hard work and carries the same risks as farming any other crop. No sampling on this trip. Supper included salmon grilled on the green egg and home grown salad.  A very pleasant evening and entire visit.

Day 62

The day after the Spa a rash appeared on the inside of each elbow.  Guess my body is not cut out for the fancy skin treatment.  Drove 20 minutes to friends, Sue & Kirk, in Carbondale.  Their house on 4 plus acres has a gravel driveway wide enough to turn the coach around after 3 points to reach the 50 amp outlet in their garage. Spent the afternoon talking with Sue in the coach which had the only a/c around.  A beautiful 3500 square foot house overlooking the snow capped mountains has no a/c. A tough thing for a Floridian to comprehend.  After 8 years in the house, Sue says they have never needed it except for the heat wave this week as she sat in our air conditioned coach (because it was too hot in the house). When Kirk got home from work, and after a bottle of wine on their porch watching all kinds of different birds at their hanging feeders, we had a very nice supper at Phat Thai in Carbondale.
