Day 5, May 2, 2018.  Wednesday.
A morning walking tour of Cologne, Germany, included Cologne’s Gothic Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Construction began in 1248 and incredibly, was not completed until 1880.  It is the largest cathedral in Northern Europe.  Lunch in Old Town at Papa Joe’s Klimperkasten featured Kolsch, the city’s unique bier.  Outstanding!  It went extremely well with weisswurst, pork schnitzel, German potato salad and a pretzel with honey mustard.  The weisswurst was so good, lite and non-greasy, even Rosemary (who never met a sausage worth eating) liked it.  In the afternoon was a tour of the World Heritage Bruhl Palaces built in the eighteenth century by Archbishop Clemens August.  The opulence makes me wonder how anyone can view this and still tithe to the church.  Dinner on the ship was followed by a delightful 3 piece classical ensemble.  Walking time 2:52, 12,395 steps.
