Day 1, 4/27, 4/28.  Friday/Saturday.
Arrived at Tampa airport 2 ½ hours early. When boarding began, it was stopped shortly thereafter for a delay due to a mechanical issue.  Finally departed 1 ½ hours late. We had only 1 3/4 hours scheduled to make our connecting flight from Frankfurt to Amsterdam. We arrived in Frankfurt with 35 minutes to make our connection and we dashed across the airport for what seemed a never ending jog (actually only 20 minutes) to make our connecting flight only to sit down and hear the announcement we will be delayed to have additional baggage loaded.  We did not mind since our baggage was among those causing this delay.  It would have been nice had Lufthansa delayed it for us but when I inquired as to same the response was they would help us with rescheduling a later flight.

Arrived in Amsterdam on time and found customs basically non-existent. Viking had a new Mercedes auto with drinks and other goodies for us not to mention a driver waiting to take us to the hotel. Arrived at the hotel at 3:30 and found that no room was ready for us.  Thus, a walk around lead us to the Central Station, the main train and tram station.  Amsterdam is very much a biking city and bikers are everywhere and boy are they aggressive.  There is even a 3 story bike garage near Central Station. Awhile later after one unacceptable room, we settled into our room.  Dinner reservations was at Kantjil and De Tiger where we feasted on an Indonesian rijstafel (ricetable).  A smorgasbord of tasty items washed down with a Hertog Jan Craft Pilsner brewed in Amsterdam.  Amsterdam in known for its pilsners and this one did not disappoint. After dinner we walked around the town and witnessed the red light district before rushing back to our hotel to quickly shower.  Daily walking time 4:39, 19,074 steps.
