Day 26

Spent the morning touring the Cornell Plantations including its botanical gardens. Then some hiking around Fall Creek Gorge Trail and viewing several waterfalls. Ithaca Falls is 160 feet high and was really roaring with all the rain we have had including this morning. After lunch we began the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. First stop was the Buttonwood Grove Winery, a Harvest Hosts host. That means we spent the night at the winery overlooking the vineyard and Cayuga Lake. Just us and Melody, the winery’s Scottish Highland cow.  What a great and quiet spot and what a great deal Harvest Hosts is. After our Buttonwood Grove tasting and purchase, we then visited Knapp Winery, Varick Winery and Goose Watch Winery making a purchase at each. Dinner in the coach was salad and our Medway CafĂ© Italian Fest Pizza and, of course, more wine. A great day and even more wineries tomorrow. A rough life but someone has to do it!

Day 25

Travel day. Somewhat sad to be leaving the family and friends part of the trip but good to see everyone, and the rest of North America beckons. Departed Bellingham about 11:15 and arrived at Ithaca Walmart about 6:45 pm. 330 miles through rain mostly and sometimes a real downpour just like a Florida thunderstorm.

Day 24

A family get together at Kathy and Bob’s included Johnny and Amy and the newlyweds. We got to know Robin a bit which was not possible at the wedding.  Looks like we may have to add Sweden to our bucket list and get there someday, but only in June, July or August per Robin, the rest of the time is winter.

Day 22-23

Visited with Kathy, Bob and Jamie. A day trip to Newburyport. A walk around downtown included a raspberry coconut scone (the best scone I have ever had) at Buttermilk Baking Co. and many bread samples at When Pigs Fly artisan breads. A quick visit to Plum Island and a walk over the sand dunes to the beach. Dinner in Essex at Woodman’s included the family style fried clam strips, calamari, clamcakes, onion rings, fries and sweet potato fries. I think I won’t tell my cardiologist about this. Rosemary had a lobster roll. An after dinner walk around Rockport with temps in the mid 50's and a strong wind coming over the ocean made us too cold for ice cream. Well we did intend to get out of the Florida heat.
