Day 46

A beautiful sunny morning for a walk around the Land of Grand Pre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for more Acadian history. Visited Evangeline Beach and walked on the bay floor as the tide was out, way out. On our way back to Wolfville, we saw a bald eagle flying over us for a few minutes. Visited the Wolfville Waterfront which was mostly devoid of water with the low tide. After lunch, we hooked up the car and left the farm and headed to more wineries - Sainte Famille Wines in Falmouth and Avondale Sky in Newport Landing. Very friendly host at St. Famille who seemed extremely interested in joining Harvest Hosts when we talked to her about it. Avondale Sky is housed in an old church (now beautifully restored) which was moved to this location after a trip down the river. I think Avondale Sky had the best wines so I was mistaken when I said we were fully stocked.  But now we are. We continue our drive to the Bedford Walmart. We have dinner at Yan’s Chinese Restaurant. It was no Yummy House!

Day 45

About an hour drive to Wolfville and we arrived at Hennigar’s Farm Market, another Harvest Hosts host and our “campground” for the day. We were greeted by the owner, Doug, who after asking us which side we wanted the view from escorted us to the top of the farm property.  The view was fantastic, top of the hill overlooking the Annapolis Valley and the Minas Basin, part of the Bay of Fundy. This area is some of the most fertile farm land in Nova Scotia and that includes vineyards.  So we take the car and begin our wineries hopping.  Visited four - Gaspereau Vineyards, Luckett Winery, Domaine de Grand Pre and Planter’s Ridge Vineyard and Winery. Our wine stash is now fully stocked in preparation for the upcoming trip to Newfoundland. Haddock dinner at the Library Pub in Wolfville.  Back to the coach where we startled a male and female ring necked pheasant in the field next to the coach. Another happy birthday hung on the line! Another very quiet night, thanks to Harvest Host.
