Monday, August 8, 2016, Corner Brook, NL
Day 72

Departed Gros Morne and headed to Corner Brook, the second largest city in Newfoundland with a population of a whopping 19,000. A city large enough for a Walmart where we parked among several tractor trailers and other RV’s.  We took the car to Steady Brook Falls, about 15 minutes away, and hiked uphill for about 30 minutes to view the falls. Back to the big city for grocery and other shopping. Dinner in downtown Corner Brook at Pho Vietnam for some desperately needed ethnic food. Food was so good we would have eaten their the next day too if we did not just buy groceries which need to be eaten before the upcoming ferry back to Nova Scotia. After dinner, we did some hiking around the Captain James Cook National Historic Site which offered a panoramic view from a mountain above the city and around the Corner Brook Stream Trail which was a trail in the heart of the city along a river with several locations of rapids. By the way, the long pants are back on as the weather is cool again.
