Day 12

Tranquility Base, the Wise Allegro has landed!  Visited the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center which is Tranquility Base. Huntsville actually predated both Kennedy Space Center and Houston.  This is where the rocket design and testing took place. The Center includes an actual Saturn V rocket that was one of the test rockets.  The 5 engines are huge which produced 7,500,000 pounds of thrust and temps of 7000 degrees.  It is truly amazing that something that big and heavy could get off the ground.  An Imax film showed the efforts underway for sending man to Mars projected to occur in the 2030's.  Hope we all make it to see that. About 4:30 head to Red Bay, AL, and arrive 6:30 and check into Tiffin Service campground.  Plan is to stay in Red Bay until Saturday for Tiffin (the manufacturer of our coach) to do a few things on the coach.  I knew that it is first come first served but was surprised when told the wait is 4 to 5 days.  Our punch list got much shorter and will find out tomorrow if we can get anything done by Friday (no work on weekends) and if not we will hit the road.  Nothing else to do in Red Bay.

Day 11

350 mile trip from Hendersonville to Huntsville Walmart.  Arrived about 4 pm and quickly detached car and went to the Huntsville Botanical Gardens.  Beautiful gardens with many paths so we got our walking in after the seven hour drive.  A bonus was the special exhibit of fantastic Lego sculptures throughout the gardens. Dinner in the coach then shopping in Walmart for some groceries conveniently located outside our front door.
PS. Check out the bear photos on May 8 entry inadvertently omitted earlier.
