Day 153, September 1, 2019, Sunday. Abilene, KS (117 miles)
We continued east for a 2 hour drive from Hayes to Abilene and checked into the Covered Wagon RV Park (fhu 50 amp). We visited the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. The 22 acre campus includes the boyhood home of Eisenhower in its original location and the “Place of Mediation”, the final resting place for the President, Mamie and their 4 year old son. The museum was well done and of course had an extensive history of WWII. A relaxing afternoon/evening with Alaska scallops on the grill.

Day 152, August 31, 2019, Saturday. Hays, KS (354 miles)
Drove the coach from Jeff’s to Art’s so he and his family, including Ari, could see the coach. Rosemary and I got bubble teas at “milkit” which were among the best ever, especially my pistachio black milk tea. We departed Denver and headed east. Stopped at Walmart in Hayes, KS just at nightfall.

Day 151, August 30, 2019, Friday. Aurora, CO (Denver)
Lunch with Jeff and Sheila at Doug’s Day Diner. Dinner with cousins Art, Cheryl, Leya and Aaron at the Yard House.

Day 150, August 29, 2019, Thursday. Aurora, CO (Denver) (276 miles)
Travel day along beautiful I-70 through the Rocky Mountains. Arrived at cousin Jeff’s in Aurora and parked on the street across from his house. Ran extension cord into Jeff’s garage (20 amps). Visited with Jeff, Sheila and Eli.

Day 149, August 28, 2019, Wednesday. Grand Junction, CO
We visited the Colorado National Monument and drove the Rim Rock Drive. The drive is 23 miles along the top of the Colorado Plateau at elevations from 4,500 to 6,500 feet with breathtaking views of the red rock spires and canyons. We drove from Fruita to Grand Junction as recommended for those with fears of heights as that allows the drive mostly on the inside lane. In case anyone is confused, I do not have a fear of heights. We stopped at many overlooks and did some of the shorter hikes as it was a bright, sunny and hot day. We took our time and the drive took us 4 hours. Afternoon was spent winery hopping in Palisade. We visited the Maison La Belle Vie Winery, DeBeque Canyon Winery, Colterris Winery (made purchase) and the Carlson Winery (made purchase). On the way back, we made a stop and I got a much needed haircut at Smart Style.

Day 148, August 27, 2019, Tuesday. Grand Junction, CO (279 miles)
Travel day. Checked into the Junction West RV Park in Grand Junction, CO.
